Transit Ridership
About this Indicator:
“Transit Ridership” is a measure of the health of the transit system. Long term, it is a way to manage traffic congestion and parking demand as the population grows. Higher transit ridership indicates effective public transportation, reducing the number of cars on the road. This helps maintain efficient traffic flow, minimizes parking issues, and supports sustainable urban development.
Notes on Recent Performance:
There was a considerable drop in post-secondary ridership, which aligns with the significant enrollment decline at Conestoga College, largely attributed to the Temporary Foreign Student Permit Cap (2024–2025).
